Foraging in the Urban Food Forest

Discover the edible abundance growing throughout our city. This guided exploration will introduce participants to common fruits, nuts, and edible plants found in Syracuse's urban landscape while discussing identification, seasonality, sustainable harvesting practices, and the cultural significance of urban food resources.

We'll meet at the lot on Kirk Park Dr and walk together to different "islands" of fruit trees and shrubs.

Participants are encourages to wear comfortable shoes, bring water bottle, and reusable containers to take fruit home.

A portion of the berries we pick will be used at our Food preservation workshop, where we'll learn how to make jam and other preserves.
