Why Stories Matter

At SOFSA, we believe storytelling is a powerful tool for food justice.

Data and policy can show us the scale of the problem, but stories remind us why it matters. They bring our food system to life, one grower, one neighbor, one shared meal at a time.

Stories help us understand what’s working and where gaps remain. They shine a light on community efforts that often go unseen. And they connect us across differences, reminding us that food is not just about survival. It’s about dignity, culture, joy, and care.

We share these stories to uplift voices that have been left out, to reflect the richness of our region, and to shape the future of our food system with honesty and heart.

Tell Us Your Story

Everyone has a food story. Whether you’re a gardener, a neighbor who hosts community meals, a youth advocate, or someone navigating food access firsthand, your experience matters.

We’d love to hear from you.
