Governance: Board & Community Connectors
Caitlin Toomey
Board Member
Caitlin is a primary care physician at Upstate University Hospital who sees the downstream effects that a broken food system has on people’s health. As a native Syracusan, Caitlin is committed to improving the health and wellbeing of her community, but recognizes the limitations of her actions as an individual within a complex system. “I do what I can to educate on nutritious food and eating habits, but know that people are typically already doing the best they can in a system that does not make healthy choices the easy option.”
Caitlin believes that SOFSA’s work on building a better food system is integral to making our community stronger. She brings with her experience on the intersection between health and food, social determinants of health, and prioritizing the needs of the community.
