Governance: Board & Community Connectors

Curtis Waterman

Board Member

Curtis Waterman leads the Onondaga Nation Farm’s hunting and fishing crew.  Born and raised in the Onondaga Nation, Curtis sees participation in SOFSA as a way of “upholding the obligation to the ‘Gaswenta’ or ‘Two Row Wampum Treaty.’ This allows us to communicate, learn, and have respect for one another in a peaceful way. We can share our traditional, earth-friendly agricultural practices with the surrounding communities and, in turn, we can learn from our neighbors and establish friendships for future collaborations.”

As a member of the board, Curtis ensures our collective accountability not just to our mission but to being in right relationship with both the Onondaga Nation and our environment at large.
