Operations & Impact: Staff & Fellows
Sarhia Rahim
Health and Environment Fellow
Born and raised in Syracuse, Sarhia is fueled by her community members’ passion to create a better city for current and future generations. She loves spaces in the city that reflect Syracuse’s diversity, and the ways in which organizations are moving towards more collaboration.
With a B.A. in Public Policy from SU, Sarhia focuses on the intersection of policy, community engagement, and storytelling. She sees poverty in Syracuse not only as a systemic issue but as a cycle, and the lack of access to nutritionally and culturally appropriate food as a contributor to ongoing cycles of poverty. She believes that everyone deserves access to fresh food and education to live a healthy life.
As the health justice fellow on the SOFSA team, Sarhia brings her love for archival research and connecting past and present policy to educate the public.
